The European Public Prosecutor's Office in Sofia has brought charges against an individual suspected of agricultural subsidy fraud in Bulgaria, the European Public Prosecutor's Office. A check was conducted on projects fully financed with European funds.
According to the indictment, in January 2020, the accused applied on behalf of three different companies to the State Fund Agriculture in Plovdiv for aid for vegetable farming. They requested EUR 190,000, and several discrepancies were found in their documents.
If found guilty, the accused could be jailed for up to six years and fined up to EUR 5,000, the press release said.
