Artist Vasilka Moneva will mark her 80th birthday with an exhibition that will open on March 13 in Gallery Arte, the organizers said on Monday.

"I am not doing a retrospective exhibition. I am just moving forward. However, the trends [in my work] and my explorations in the last few years can be seen here. I think this is the last exhibition I am doing in Sofia," the artist said.

The exhibition will include her latest works, revealing a life of never-ending creative work, full of colour and harmony. "It will feature Moneva's familiar interiors, still lifes and landscapes - her calling card among art connoisseurs and lovers," said curator Nadezhda Dzhakova.

Vasilka Moneva was born on March 14, 1945 in Ruse. Since her first appearances on the artistic scene in the 1960s, she impressed with her more liberated approach to modelling form. In 1971 she was accepted as a member of the Union of Bulgarian Artists. Specialized at the Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris in 1977. Author of a number of solo exhibitions in Bulgaria, Germany, Hungary. Her works were also displayed in Paris, New York, Berlin, Budapest, Beijing, Athens, Moscow, Riga, Bratislava, Bucharest, Madrid, Barcelona, Tokyo.
