National Assembly Chair Raya Nazaryan, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) co-leader Kiril Petkov and Ukrainian Ambassador to Bulgaria Olesya Ilashchuk opened an exhibition of children's drawings titled  "Children of War" in Parliament's building here on Wednesday.

In her speech, Raya Nazaryan called for support for Ukrainian children and unity to fulfill the common commitment to support the children of Ukraine for the future they dream of. Kiril Petkov pointed out that there is nothing in this world that is worth seeing a child's toy in the middle of rubble caused by a Russian missile. He pointed out that with this exhibition they show that Bulgaria is with them and will do everything possible so that this type of tragedy never happens.

Ukrainian children live in another reality, a combat reality that stole their childhood, Olesya Ilashchuk said in her speech. She pointed out that almost two thousand children have suffered in the Russian war. "Imagine, that's a hundred classes, three or four ordinary schools in Sofia. Hundreds of school buildings, kindergartens, community centres, children's art centres were destroyed. Hundreds of thousands of Ukrainian children have been forcibly removed from the occupied territories," she said. "Today's exhibition is very important, the children show things that should not be happening in the 21st century," the Ukrainian ambassador added. "I would like to thank the governments of Bulgaria for the decisions supporting the Ukrainian children," she said, referring to the opportunities for education, for healing on the Bulgarian Black Sea, as well as the political, financial, humanitarian and defence assistance to the Ukrainian people.
