Selected works from the XVII International Photography Salon are arranged at the entrance of the Sea Garden in Varna until July 27. Along with photographs by artists from Europe, Canada and Australia, there are also participants from Saudi Arabia, China, India, Oman, Qatar, Macau, Indonesia, and Malaysia. A total of 124 images were submitted, the organizers from Varna Open Art said.

They have been selected from over 6,000 entries by 373 artists from 56 countries. They were judged by an international jury, which included Adela Lia Rusu from Romania, Harjanto Sumawan from Indonesia and Miroslav Mominski from Bulgaria.

The International Photography Salon in Varna is the oldest international photography competition in Bulgaria, the organizers pointed out. Every year, it showcases the works of world artists, selected according to the criteria and in partnership with the world's largest photographic organizations - such as FIAP (Federation Internationale de L'Art Photographique), PSA (Photographic Society of America), GPU (Global Photographic Union), IAAP (International Association of Art Photographers) and the National Association Photographic Academy "Yanka Kurkchieva".

This year the prize for the best group presentation in the salon goes to the Eurasia Photography Club from Russia with India International Group as runner-up. Maurizio Trifilidis from Italy was named the best photographer.

The competition also awards national prizes in several sections. They were determined among 40 Bulgarian artists who participated with 515 images. Lyubomir Argirov and Yavor Michev were awarded with a gold medal for colour photography, Minko Mihailov with a silver medal and Hristo Dimitrov with an honorary diploma. The Jury Award goes to Kostadin Madjarov. For monochrome photography, an honorary diploma is awarded to Hristo Stefanov and a jury award to Minko Mihailov. Yavor Michev and Krasen Belev are awarded in the Portrait and Body section. Hristo Dimitrov got the gold medal for landscape and Emil Enchev won the Jury Prize.
