The National Theatre is set to mark the 174th birth anniversary of Bulgarian literary classic Ivan Vazov with a poster and photo exhibition celebrating the writer's significant impact on Bulgarian theatre. This event is also part of the celebrations for the Theatre’s 120th anniversary, the theater company said on Friday.
The new exhibition titled "Ivan Vazov and the Theatre" will premiere on July 9 at the the National Theatre’s chamber stage. The exhibition is curated by playwright and writer Mirela Ivanova.
A special performance will follow the official opening and will commemorate the birthday of the famous poet, featuring a lyrical collage titled "Oh, You, Whoever You Are…" Crafted by Mirela Ivanova and directed by Boyka Velkova, the event will celebrate Vazov's literary legacy through his poems, letters, and memories.
The exhibition at the Vazov National Theatre, named after the playwright in 1962, features fourteen panels that explore the profound connection between the writer and the theatre. The display presents posters and photographs from productions of Vazov's plays, highlighting performances by celebrated actors.
