An exhibition, marking the 20th anniversary of Bulgaria’s NATO accession will open at the National Museum of Military History on March 28. The exhibition is part of a national programme for celebrating the anniversary, the Museum said on Friday.

The exhibit narrative visualizes the efforts on the difficult path to building capabilities and compatibility through original artifacts such as flags of Bulgarian contingents from missions abroad, uniforms, weapons, personal belongings of mission participants, maps, signs, documentary evidence, etc. The image of the Bulgarian army is enriched by numerous videos and photographic material from significant exercises and events of the last 20 years. The Bulgarian National Volunteer Company 4093 within NATO, formed in 1951 by Bulgarian political emigrants, also has its place in the exhibition. Interactive applications make available information on the structure and members of NATO, as well as such on key moments in the process of joining and full membership in articles from the periodical press.

The Museum expresses its gratitude to the Joint Forces Command, the Navy, the Logistic Support Command, the Bulgarian National Television, the Military TV Channel for their support and to all those whose sense of historicism made the exhibition possible.
