MRF-New Beginning/Renew Europe MEPs Elena Yoncheva and Taner Kabilov are no longer part of the Renew Europe group in the European Parliament (EP) and are now independent members, said EP President Roberta Metsola during the opening of the first EP session in Strasbourg on Monday.

Metsola noted that the decision took effect on December 31, 2024.

On December 22, 2024, Kabilov was elected by the National Conference of the MRF-New Beginning as a member of the Central Operational Bureau of the party. A day later, the MRF-New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski announced that the party decided to terminate its membership in ALDE, and its MEPs will leave the Renew Europe group. On the eve of this decision, the ALDE Party Bureau recommended the exclusion of the MRF due to the actions of its leader, Delyan Peevski, who is sanctioned under the Magnitsky Act.
