New Symphony Orchestra Opens 33rd Season October 16 under Italian Ambassador's Patronage

The New Symphony Orchestra will open its 33rd season in the Bulgaria Hall on October 16 under the honorary patronage of Ambassador Giuseppina Zarra, the Italian Embassy said. 

The soloists are Italian pianists Marco Schiavo and Sergio Marchegiani, who make up a solid duo, highly acclaimed by audiences and critics alike for their personal style, casual musical discourse, beautiful sound, intensity and the vibrant energy of their performances. The concert will include excerpts from operas by Rossini, Mozart and Shostakovich under the baton of Petko Dimitrov.

The duo have given hundreds of concerts together all over the world at prestigious venues and festivals, including Carnegie Hall in New York, Goldener Saal at Musikverein and Konzerthaus in Vienna, Mozarteum Salzburg, Konzerthaus Berlin, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, Beethoven-Haus in Bonn, Smetana and Dvořák Hall in Prague, Sala Verdi in Milan, Suntory Hall in Tokyo, Solis Theatre in Montevideo, Sao Paulo Hall in Brazil, as well as in Rome, Paris, Zurich, London, Sofia, Istanbul, Moscow, Montreal, Toronto, Mexico City, Baku, Astana, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Singapore, etc. 

They have been regular guests with orchestras including the Berliner Symphoniker, the Budapest Symphony Orchestra, the Prague Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Sofia Philharmonic Orchestra, the Istanbul Symphony Orchestra and the New York Symphonic Orchestra.

In 2014, Decca label published their first CD dedicated to Franz Schubert. The second CD entitled "Dances" with the Hungarian Dances and the Waltzes op. 39 by Johannes Brahms was released in 2018. In 2020, Decca released a third CD with the Concertos for two pianos K. 242 and K. 365 by Mozart and the Concerto for piano four-hands by Kozeluch, recorded in London with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Their latest recording project is the complete works for piano four-hands by Mozart, recorded at the Mozarteum in Salzburg and published on two CDs by Decca in 2021 and 2023.

Schiavo and Marchegiani teach in the Conservatories of Alessandria and Potenza, are often invited to be part of juries of international competitions and hold masterclasses all over the world.
