Bulgarian News Agency (BTA) Director General Kiril Valchev presented a honorary medal commemorating BTA’s 125th anniversary to Austrian Press Agency’s (APA) Innovation Hub Head Verena Krawarik on Thursday during the autumn session of the European Association of News Agencies (EANA) in Paris.
APA won the 2023 Maxim Minchev Award, presented by EANA for quality agency journalism. According to the EANA Board, the main criteria considered in the evaluation for the award were innovation, relevance, turnover versus cost, and coverage of events.
"In 2023, the Bulgarian News Agency celebrates 125 years since its foundation. BTA is honored that the EANA award bears the name of Maxim Minchev, who was the head of the Bulgarian national news agency for more than 17 years," Valchev said.
"The winners of the Maxim Minchev Prize this year offer useful solutions on how to use artificial intelligence, but we must not forget to develop the human intelligence of the journalists in our agencies and of our audiences," he added.
