site.btaStara Zagora State Opera Hosts 9th Blue Danube International Opera Conducting Competition

The Stara Zagora State Opera is hosting the 9th Blue Danube International Opera Conducting Competition on September 14-21, the opera said on its website. Twenty-six conductors of nearly 20 nationalities have entered the anonymous competition.

The repertoire comprises Verdi's Rigoletto, Mozart's The Magic Flute and Puccini's Tosca. The orchestra, choir and soloists of the Stara Zagora State Opera and guest soloists will feature in all rounds of the competition.

The aim is to give young musicians a chance to perform in various opera houses and orchestras in the next two years.

The award ceremony will be held on September 21 when the winners will conduct Tosca.

Stara Zagora is hosting the competition for the second time.
