The photographic triptych NORTHSOUTH was the first event of the ARTcraft project festival programme, which takes place here between September 10 and 17. On Sunday night photographs from Bulgaria and Iceland were presented in a joint exhibition by the authors - Iris Ann Sigurdardottir from Iceland, Slavyan Kostov and Pavel Iliev from Bulgaria.

Sigurdardottir was born in Reykjavik, Iceland. She studied photography and visual arts in Florence. She has exhibited her work in Iceland, Italy, USA and now in Bulgaria. Sigurdardottir has a passion for spirituality and mysticism and loves to incorporate them into her work.

Kostov commented said about the exhibition: "Each photo you see is the result of inspiration, passion and diligence created on two opposite ends of Europe". He expressed his gratitude to the event organizers, particularly to the Icelandic partners, whose support helped him feel "the northern warmth and friendship".

Kostov shared that his photos aim to show loneliness that can be useful to a person, how it can help one escape from the world's problems and how it can inspire. He added that he and his peers working on the project came up with a new term – northsouth, which he stated is now a term in the field of photography.

ARTcraft Fest is organized by the Alliance for Regional Cooperation and Development, in cooperation with Drama and Puppet Theater Ivan Dimov, Haskovo Municipality and North Consulting, Iceland.

The festival is implemented within the framework of the project BGCULTURE-2.002-0026 ARTCRAFT with financial support provided by Iceland, Liechtenstein and Norway under the European Economic Area Financial Mechanism 2014-2021 through the Cultural Entrepreneurship, Heritage and Cooperation Program, Outcome 2 "Access to Arts and Culture Improved".
