The world-famous chamber orchestra I Solisti Veneti will perform a concert of Italian baroque music at Varna’s Festival and Congress Centre on September 12. The concert is on the programme of the International Musical Festival Varna Summer and is organized in partnership with the Italian Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Sofia.

The orchestra was founded in Padua in 1959 by Claudio Scimone and quickly found critical and popular acclaim, the Italian Embassy said. It has performed over 6,000 concerts in more than 90 countries and is a fixture at the most prestigious festivals in the world. It has participated 30 times at the Salzburg Festival.

The ensemble has recorded with many world-famous artists, including Salvatore Accardo, Plácido Domingo, Jean-Pierre Rampal, Marilyn Horne, James Galway, Mstislav Rostropovich, Sviatoslav Richter, Paul Badura-Skoda, Heinz Holliger and Ugo Orlandi.

Since 2019, the Musical Director has been Giuliano Carella, and since 2020 he has also been Artistic Director.

I Solisti Veneti  is a recipient of the prestigious award of the Arthur Rubinstein Musical Foundation in 2008. The European Parliament awarded the orchestra a pcial plaque as Ambassadors of culture and music across the borders.

In Varna the orchestra under the baton of Carella will perform works by Antonio Vivaldi, Tomaso Albinoni and Arcangello Corelli.
