site.btaSolo Performance by French Dancer/Choreographer François Chaignaud and Documentary Theatre Open New Season at Sofia's Toplocentralata Contemporary Art Centre

On September 1, the Toplocentralata centre for contemporary art in Sofia is opening three of its halls for the new season with a programme packed with performances, exhibitions, meetings with artists, presentations of books and projects, and public discussions, said Toplocentralata. Among the highlights is a solo performance by French dancer/choreographer François Chaignaud and documentary theatre.  

With a show entitled Думи мої, Chaignaud, who is one of the main representatives of the new French dance school, creates a different dance experience that goes beyond the confines of movement itself. "He sings. He dances. He creates a sense of the otherworldly," wrote the New York Times of Chaignaud's contemporary vocal, musical, choreographic and poetic forms of expression.

Visitors are also invited to the documentary theater "Letters from Prison" by the German collective Markus & Markus, which will take place on September 22 and 23.

The program includes the exhibitions "Flag" by Albena Baeva and "Aesthetics of Architecture" by Todor Bulev, and the Shared Space music festival curated by Bilyana Vuchkova. There will also be a public discussion "Artificial Intelligence as Pygmalion and Galatea", organized by Prof. Ivaylo Dichev and Dr. Mila Mineva.

On the programme is the Days of Japanese Culture in Bulgaria (September 13-15), as well as 10 Bulgarian independent shows.
