Spanish musician Miranda Fernández is brining to Sofia her trio for a stint with her 88-M project dedicated to women in flamenco, organizer Jazz Plus Concerts told BTA. The trio will be performing at Sofia Live Club on September 15.

The trio includes Miranda Fernández (piano), Cristina Lopez (vocal and live electronics) and Lucas Balbo (percussions). Flamenco dancer Marina Wallpercin will appear as special guest.

Fernandez' style is a mixture of flamenco, jazz and Latin music, formed under the influence of Chick Corea, Paco de Lucia and Chano Domínguez. She has been part of the Barcelona Flamenco Ballet, the Sant Andreu Jazz Band, the José Manuel Álvarez Company, Las Noray and Mediterráneos.

Her project, 88-M, is a tribute to all the flamenco women who fought for their place on the scene, overcoming discrimination and social coercion on their own and often without support from others. 88-M traces the historical importance of women in flamenco from the point of view of the women themselves, with the aim of giving them the recognition they deserve for their fundamental role in this art form.
