Customs officers seized nearly 92 kg of hashish after a check in the area of Danube Bridge 2 - Vidin, the Customs Agency said Monday. This is the biggest case of hashish seizures in Bulgaria in the last 12 years.

At around 11:15 pm on April 10, customs employees stopped for inspection a vehicle with Turkish registration and a driver of Turkish nationality transporting carbonated drink concentrate from Ireland to Turkiye.

During the inspection, two bags and a rucksack containing 94 packets of greenish-brown resinous mass were found in the driver's cab. A field test showed it to be hashish. The total weight of the drug was 91,675 kilograms, worth about BGN 1,200,000.

The driver of the truck was detained for up to 72 hours.
