Bulgaria's acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov conferred here on Monday with Muhsin Senturk, General Prosecutor of the Supreme Court of Appeal of the Republic of Turkiye, the Bulgarian prosecution service said.

Senturk is on his first official visit to Sofia since taking office and returns a visit that a delegation of Bulgaria's prosecution service paid to Ankara in February.

The Turkish delegation also includes Deputy General Prosecutor Omer Kara, the prosecutor responsible for International Relations, Seda Dursun, and Senior Prosecutor Hasan Cumbul. At the official talks, Bulgaria is also represented by Deputy Prosecutor General Vanya Stefanova and the head of the International Department at the Supreme Cassation Prosecution Office, Tsvetomir Yossifov.

Turkish Ambassador in Sofia Mehmet Sait Uyanik also took part in the meeting.

Sarafov and Senturk stressed the high level of trust between the prosecution services of Bulgaria and Turkiye and the excellent operational cooperation in combating various forms of cross-border organized crime, countering illegal migration, terrorism and cybercrime.

The sides discussed the exchange of good practices and joint training of prosecutors and investigating magistrates between the two countries and the role of the Balkan Forum of General Prosecutors as a platform ensuring stability and security in the region.

Senturk also conferred with Supreme Court of Cassation President Galina Zaharova. Within the framework of his official visit to Bulgaria, the Turkish General Prosecutor will also hold sessions with Justice Minister Georgi Georgiev, security services officials and magistrates.
