site.btaCC-DB MP Atanassov: CC-DB Would Not Back Potential Vote of No Confidence in Government

Democratic Bulgaria Chair Atanas Atanassov told reporters in Parliament here on Wednesday that Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria (CC-DB) would not vote in favour of a potential vote of no confidence in the government. Atanassov's comments came after the leader of the Vazrazhdane party, Kostadin Kostadinov, announced on Monday that his party wants the resignation of the government of Prime Minister Rosen Zhelyazkov because of its complete failure in the field of foreign policy.

Atanassov specified: "We will not support such a vote of no confidence on foreign policy because it is clear where Vazrazhdane stands in terms of foreign affairs." He added that CC-DB should work vigorously to have Bulgaria join the euro area, and this process would be facilitated by having a regular government.

Commenting on a request for a hearing of Zhelyazkov and the heads of the security services over the spy scandal in the UK involving Bulgarian nationals, Atanassov said that CC-DB will insist on clarifying the activities of Russian special services on the territory of Bulgaria.
