In connection with the seismic activity in the area of the Greek islands of Santorini and Amorgos, Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Georg Georgiev, stated during a briefing on Monday that, at this stage, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has no information or reports of any Bulgarians being affected in the impacted areas. "We are in constant contact with our citizens there," Georgiev assured.

“There is established communication between our diplomatic representations. We are monitoring the situation. We have issued guidelines, which are also available on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website. We are also communicating directly with our colleagues in Greece to ensure a prompt response if any incident occurs,” the Minister added.

In the past three days, increased seismic activity has been observed near the islands of Santorini and Amorgos. Greek authorities took preventive measures in the area over the weekend, and on Monday, schools on four islands in the zone were closed. Emergency response teams were deployed on the island of Santorini.
