The bilateral chambers of commerce of the European Union Member States operating in Bulgaria have set up a permanent committee called EU Chambers in Bulgaria, the Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce and Industry reported on Monday. EU Chambers in Bulgaria aims to strengthen cooperation between chambers within the European Union.
The founding members are the Bulgarian-Hellenic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Bulgarian-Spanish Chamber of Commerce, the Dutch Bulgarian Business Association, the Bulgarian-Romanian Chamber of Commerce and the Hungarian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce. EU Chambers in Bulgaria is headed by a chairperson - Hungarian-Bulgarian Chamber of Commerce President Rossen Tkatchenko. There are two deputy chairs.
On the basis of the Memorandum establishing EU Chambers in Bulgaria, the organization will represent, promote and protect the common economic and business interests of the signatory countries in Bulgaria. It will offer an exchange of experience and information of common interest. The organization will collect information on Bulgarian and EU legislation and administrative issues, legal provisions, instruments and measures that are relevant for the promotion of investment and trade between other EU countries and Bulgaria and make it available to all signatories. Other activities include organizing joint events that will promote trade between Bulgaria and other EU countries identifying and taking positions on various issues of common interest to present them in a unified voice to the Bulgarian government, ministries and authorities.
Any foreign or bilateral business/economic organization of companies from EU Member States that has been established or is to be established can join EU Chambers in Bulgaria.
