Bulgarian poet Zdravka Slavenova will present her new book, Over the Hills of the Spirit, in Vancouver, Canada, Slavenova told BTA on Monday.

The event will take place in Vancouver on February 11, and admission is free. Slavenova shared that the book is dedicated to her roots, family, homeland, and the people from her native region.

Slavenova’s new book is inspired by love, nostalgia, and her deep connection to Bulgaria. Born in Razlog, Slavenova later emigrated to Canada, where she remained active in the Bulgarian community while pursuing a career in leadership training. She began writing poetry at 55, and her works reflect her enduring love for her homeland. 

The book includes a foreword by literary scholar Asen Strugov, who highlights Slavenova's journey from Bulgaria to Canada and her dedication to preserving Bulgarian culture abroad. Over the Hills of the Spirit was previously presented in Razlog and at the Bulgarian Authors Around the World forum in Milan.
