On the sidelines of his Foreign Affairs Council, Foreign Minister Georg Georgiev met with Commissioner for Enlargement Policy Marta Kos, the Foreign Ministry said on Monday. The two discussed the European integration process of the Western Balkan countries, Ukraine and Moldova.
Bulgaria has a consistent policy of supporting the European integration of all candidate countries, strictly applying the principle of own merits and implementing the agreements reached so far," the Bulgarian foreign minister said. Only on the basis of real results and progress can trust be built between the candidate countries and the EU, which is crucial for the success of the integration process, he added.
The Bulgarian Foreign Minister also conferred with High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas and the foreign ministers of Romania and Italy, with whom he discussed the current issues on the Council's agenda, the statement said.
