A mechanized infantry company of 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion of 5th Brigade Command, Pleven, was certified to participate in the NATO Multinational Battlegroup in Bulgaria, the Defence Ministry reported on Thursday.
The certification was carried out by a commission of the Bulgarian Land Forces between December 10 and 12 in the area where the battalion is stationed and in the Todorovo vehicle practice area. The first day involved a briefing by the company commander, Captain Pavlin Simeonov, as well as a unit review and a documentary check.
The unit's combat capabilities were showcased during a tactical exercise titled "Actions of a mechanized infantry company from a multinational battlegroup during a defensive operation." The exercise was held in the Todorovo vehicle practice area on December 11 and 12. Over 130 servicepersons and 25 tracked and wheeled vehicles took part in the event.
The commission concluded that the company is combat ready, based on the CREVAL evaluation system.
The company will go on six-month duty on February 1, 2025. The Commander of 4th Mechanized Infantry Battalion, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Zahariev, will serve as Deputy Commander of Multinational Battlegroup Bulgaria.
