During the political consultations with President Rumen Radev, which the head of State is holding before handing over the first mandate to form a government, Dzhevdet Chakarov, Chair of the Alliance for Rights and Freedom's parliamentary group Democracy, Rights and Freedoms - MRF, said that in the current fragmented parliament his formation is not particularly optimistic, but will make efforts to form a government.

"We are approaching the current situation seriously and responsibly," said Chakarov, stressing that the country is in a crisis and there is a need to form a regular government in order to overcome it. "This requires political entities to live up to their responsibilities," he argued.

Chakarov noted that they are ready for dialogue with all political entities, with the exception of MRF - New Beginning" and Vazrazhdane.

Chakarov also said that the formation has expressed support for Continue the Change - Democratic Bulgaria's proposed cordon sanitaire (sanitary cordon) around Delyan Peevski's party Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning. He once again stated that the country must begin to emerge from its "crisis spiral". He also argued that there must be an equal approach to all municipalities, for the Recovery and Resilience Plan to work.

"Your party is going through a difficult period, but I believe that with the experience gained over the years in Bulgarian political life, in Parliament, and in the governance of the country, you will contribute to a more effective process in the efforts to form a government," said President Radev at the beginning of the consultations.

The first political force, GERB-UDF, has already announced that it assumes responsibility and will make efforts to form a regular government, the head of State indicated. Democratic Bulgaria will now at least join this dialogue process, Radev added.
