site.btaPeevski: If There Are New Elections and MRF-New Beginning Has 121 MPs, It Will Remove President Radev
Movement for Rights and Freedoms (MRF) - New Beginning leader Delyan Peevski said here Thursday that if there are new parliamentary elections and his party wins 121 seats, it will "most certainly remove" President Rumen Radev. Peevski was speaking to the press as he kept up his fervid rhetoric against the head of State.
He offered his take on what exactly happened before the President announced earlier this week that he would exclude MRF-New Beginning from the consultations before Parliament tried to form a government. "I have information about what happened the other day after I said that I was not willing to go [to consultations with the President] because that was my decision. He threw a tantrum, just like a little boy. The schedule for the talks with the parties was ready and MRF-New Beginning was there but he said that it be crossed out immediately. His advisers told him that it was a violation of the Constitution but he said, 'No, I am the President. Get him off the list. This man gets on my nerves.' That is what happened," said Peevski.
He also said that "all constitutional law experts said that with his action the President violated the Constitution". "If there are new elections and MRF-New Beginning wins 121 votes [in Parliament], of course it will remove Radev. With 30 MPs now it cannot be done," he added.
He said that he always sent his deputies when there were consultations with the President and that he is "guided in his actions by the Constitution and by his respect for the rule of law and the Euro-Atlantic partners". He said the President was "a liar" when he was asked the head of State's comment on the situation Wednesday.
Peevski said that any questions about the government talks should be addressed to GERB leader Boyko Borissov because he will get the first mandate to form a government and the responsibility is his.
Asked if the MRF National Conference scheduled for December 22 will remove the part of the statute establishing the position of Honorary Chair, he said "of course it will".
