The Council of Ministers approved the enhanced partnership in border security between Bulgaria and the USA and instructed the Minister of Foreign Affairs to sign and deliver a diplomatic note to the US side.

The establishment of the Enhanced Border Security Partnership is one of the most important technical conditions for the countries' inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Program.

Along with the significant reduction in the visa refusal rate in the past fiscal year 2024, the Enhanced Border Security Partnership is a major achievement for Bulgaria and is another important indicator of the progress in the work of the Bulgarian institutions to meet the criteria for inclusion in the US Visa Waiver Program.
