At its regular meeting on Wednesday, the Council of Ministers decided to propose to the National Assembly a bill amending and supplementing the Cyber Security Act, the Government Information Service said. The amendments provide high guarantees and opportunities for better resilience of cyberspace and more effective measures to counter cyber attacks. The new regulations are aimed at ensuring fair treatment of subjects, raising their awareness and providing reliable and effective oversight to respect their rights and legitimate interests.

The bill is in line with Bulgaria's commitments to transpose in its national legislation and to set up an organisation to implement Directive (EU) 2022/2555 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 14 December 2022 on measures for a high common level of cybersecurity across the Union. The transposition of the Directive and the realisation of the set objectives will simplify and speed up the process of interaction and resolution of cross-border and national incidents in the European Union, which will contribute to the timely response to attacks and the reduction of their negative consequences.
