Most ice-skating venues in Sofia have now opened and the country's largest one, Ice Park in the Knyazheska Garden in central Sofia, is officially opening Wednesday, the Sofia - European Capital of Sport Foundation told BTA. 

The Ice Park rink rivals ice skating rinks in Europe’s large capitals – Vienna, Brussels, Paris, Prague and London. It covers a total area of 10,000 sq. m., and includes three large ice skating rinks of 4,000 sq m, connected by 800-m wide aisles. There is an ice alley for extreme skating. The rink has 2,500 pairs of skates, 60 training simulators and 15 instructors.

A Christmas bazaar next to the rink offers traditional foods and drinks. There will be a space dedicated to events that will take place under the auspices of the Sofia Municipality.

It will be open every day until February 9, 2025, from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. More than 650,000 visitors are expected this season. A single ticket costs BGN 20.

The Ice Rink in Vazrazhdane Park

For the tenth season, the ice rink in Vazrazhdane Park offers ice skating lovers of all age groups wonderful conditions for sport in an open park environment. The rink has an area of 800 sq. m. and a capacity of up to 100 users at a time.

The facility offers great opportunities for training of children and beginners in sports such as ice hockey, figure skating, as well as hosting sports festivals for all schools, kindergartens and childcare centres.

The rink is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 9.30 p.m. Admissions between 2 p.m. and 3.30 p.m. Monday to Friday is free for children and students.

Yunak Ice Rink

Yunak Ice Rink has already opened. It is located near the Vasil Levski metro station and the National Stadium.

The Ice Academy - Season 2024-2025 will start there this weekend, according to the rink's Facebook page.

Practice sessions are available for children ages 4 to 12. The cost for a single visit is BGN 17 per child and includes instructor, skates and skating aids.

Slavia Ice Rink

Slavia Ice Rink offers free admission on Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 p.m. to 8.30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 11.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 5 p.m. to 6.30 p.m.

The rink offers a skating school on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30 p.m. and Saturdays and Sundays at 10.30 a.m. Admission costs BGN 15.

COOP Ice Rink

The COOP Ice Rink is located at 116 Blvd. Nikola Mushanov. It has an area of 200 sq. m., is covered and made entirely of synthetic ice. This allows it to operate in all seasons, unlike traditional ice rinks.  The rink boasts the only ice bumper cars in Bulgaria.
