Caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs Ivan Kondov attended the second day of a Meeting of NATO Ministers of Foreign Affairs, taking part in a session in allied format, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said in a press release here on Wednesday. The meeting was centred around key strategic priorities for the Alliance, including improving NATO’s deterrence and defence capabilities, expanding support for Ukraine in light of ongoing Russian aggression, addressing third-party support for the Russian Federation, and preparing for the NATO Summit in The Hague in 2025.

During the first working session, which was also attended by King Abdullah II of Jordan, discussions revolved around shared security challenges. The session highlighted NATO’s commitment to addressing threats from the southern strategic direction and strengthening collaboration with partners in the region. These efforts aim to achieve specific objectives critical to NATO's mission and to bolster support for regional allies.

Kondov participated in an informal working dinner of the NATO-Ukraine Council, attended by Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andrii Sybiha and EU High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas. The discussions focused on improving allied support to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs as it continues to face Russian aggression.

During the meeting with his Ukrainian counterpart, Kondov reaffirmed Bulgaria’s unwavering and consistent support for Ukraine.
