site.bta55th Engineer Regiment Conducts Tactical Exercise at Belene

More than 200 servicemen from the 55th Engineer Regiment of the Army conducted a tactical-special exercise in the Belene area. Some 58 specialized machines were used to carry out the tasks, the press centre of the Defence Ministry said on Thursday.

The objectives of the exercise were to check and assess the training and capabilities of the personnel in planning and executing tasks to ensure the engineering support of the land component in a defence operation. The servicemen performed the tasks of laying anti-tank minefields, securing duplicate bridges, ferrying, cross-river assault, etc. In the course of the exercise, they also upgraded their skills in scouting, transporting and destroying unexploded ordnance and improvised explosive devices.
