Commenting on Parliament's seventh unsuccessful attempt to elect a chair, Morality, Unity, Honour (MECh) party leader Radostin Vasilev said that Thursday’s vote was 'a fixed game'. According to Vasilev, Continue the Change-Democratic Bulgaria MPs Yavor Bozhankov and Daniel Lorer, and the BSP-United Left coalition are the reason there is no elected chair.

In Vasilev's words, the behaviour of the BSP-United Left is incomprehensible, and he sees the influence of other parties in the management of the socialist coalition. The leader of MECh said he does not trust CC-DB either, suspecting that their representatives might have had a plan to fall three votes short in advance.

"If [this] Parliament does not have an elected president by Friday, MECh MPs will radically change their behaviour," Vasilev added.

The failed seventh attempt is a proof of the helplessness of Bulgaria's political class and MECh cannot participate in this circus anymore, Vasilev stressed, adding that new snap parliamentary elections are needed.

"This parliament cannot give birth to anything - the people inside loathe each other," Vasilev said, clarifying that his party would propose a new candidate for National Assembly Chair.
