site.btaBulgaria Opens Consulate in Mauritania

The Council of Ministers adopted a decision to open a consulate of the Republic of Bulgaria in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, headed by an honorary (non-permanent) consular official with headquarters in Nouakchott and with a consular district covering the territory of Mauritania, and on the appointment of Youssef Abeidna, a Mauritanian citizen, as an honorary consular official.

Mr. Youssef Abeidna is a prominent Mauritanian businessman and in his capacity as honorary consular official of Bulgaria is expected to contribute to the overall development of bilateral relations by committing to assist interested Bulgarian companies to present their products and services on the Mauritanian market, to participate in exhibitions, etc., as well as to assist Bulgarian citizens in Mauritania by promoting cultural, educational and scientific exchanges between the two countries.

The economic profile of the Mauritanian capital includes the gas industry, trade and services, fishing, agriculture, etc., and Nouakchott is also home to leading universities and research centres.
