site.btaPM Glavchev Comments Cabinet Decision to Provide Offices to MRF
The procedure by which properties are leased out to political parties is described in the Political Parties Act and it has been strictly followed, caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev said. He reminded that the initiative came from one of the co-chairmen of the MRF political party, which has existed for a long time and has two co-chairmen, one of whom submitted a request to the Governor of Sofia, and from there on the procedure provided for by law was set in motion, and the property went to the MRF," Glavchev said, commenting his Government's decision to provide offices to the MRF in central Sofia, which caused three government agencies to move out of the building.
“The report was presented to us, we asked if everything was according to the law, and then I asked the question if these agencies are giving up their offices because they no longer need them, they said yes," the Prime Minister explained the chronology of events. According to Glavchev, there was nothing left for the government but to take the decision that was taken. “There is neither a 48-hour deadline, nor a 24-hour deadline, nor any deadline,” Glavchev said. According to him, it is a question of accommodation disputes between one party and other parties, which in turn are jealous that they were given offices much later.
“I don't know if they will elect a chair of the National Assembly today,” Glavchev said, adding that the problem of the caretaker government is not that a regular government is not elected. “We are sitting with little inspiration but we are doing our job and if anyone has evidence to the contrary, let him present it,” the Prime Minister said. He expressed hope that a regular government would be formed.
