For the fifth consecutive year on the occasion of the Entry of the Theotokos and the Day of the Christian Family on November 21, priests from the Sofia Metropolitanate donate blood to patients in need at the Military Medical Academy in the capital.
The primate of the St Prophet Elijah in the district of Knyazhevo, Economos Dilyan Tsvetkov, told BTA that donating blood on this holy day is a good occasion to help others, even those we do not know. According to him, especially now, when the world is shaken by so many misunderstandings, we realize even more how important every drop of blood is at the right moment.
The head of the Military Medical Academy, Major General Ventsislav Mutafchiyski, expressed his gratitude to the Sofia Metropolitanate for the support and example set by the clergy. "Blood is an invaluable raw material for us as doctors, it is also invaluable for the patients who need it, said Prof. Mutafchiyski. The blood is a valuable asset for us," he added. He recalled that this blood donation initiative is the fifth in a row, but this is the first time it is happening in the renovated Transfusion Haematology Centre.
