The Confederation of Employers and Industrialists in Bulgaria (KRIB) and the Ikonomika magazine presented their Mr. and Mrs. Economics Awards 2024 during a ceremony at John Atanasoff Hall in the Sofia Tech Park on Tuesday.
Bulgarian Vice President Iliana Iotova handed the Mr. Economics Award to Svetlin Stoyanov, Executive Director of the MTG Dolphin shipyard on the shore of Lake Varna.
Among the ladies, the winner is Kamelia Slaveykova, who chairs the Board of Directors of fuel distributor Shell Bulgaria.
Vice President Iotova said: “We are celebrating the success of Bulgarian business. We in Bulgaria have become fond of rating things. I am certain that if we rate Bulgarian business, it will stand much higher than many institutions in the country. We explain this paradox with your courage, your will.”
The Vice President also noted: “In spite of everything happening in this country, you [entrepreneurs] are developing in up-to-date, innovative ways. You are developing the Bulgarian economy and Bulgaria. I want to thank KRIB for lending a hand, because it is a community which not only reports results and successes but also supports Bulgarian business. You don’t just wait until you catch the genie. You know how to do it, you go out and catch it, and you move forward.”
Discussing the domestic political situation, Iotova said: “We hope for a steady government, but not at all costs and not through all sorts of compromise. I hope we overcome the dependencies and have rules, because you [businesspeople] need rules, you need a forecast. I hope that very soon we will be able to congratulate ourselves on the emergence of such a situation and on finding people who think about Bulgaria, not themselves. On behalf of the presidential institution, I promise you can count on our support. We want stability in our country.”
