site.btaBulgaria Presented as Tourism Destination in Bucharest
A photo corner for snapshots with picturesque views of Bulgaria attracted visitors to the Bulgarian stand at the autumn international tourism fair in Bucharest after its opening. People from different countries competed to take pictures with Bulgarian traditional hats or with wreaths of roses in the background of virtual images from different parts of the country.
"People come to us and through the photos they can visualize their journey in Bulgaria, and they can choose from as many as 12 tourist destinations - our ancient cities, Nessebar, Plovdiv, our beautiful mountains, Pirin, Rila, and our Black Sea coast, of course," Miroslava Rupchanska, who helps make the photo sessions, told BTA. More than 200 people went through the photo corner in a few hours.
Bulgaria's stand attracts with opportunities for balneo and cultural tourism, with sea and mountain holidays.
"At the moment, Romanian tourists are focused on mountain resorts, but it makes an impression, even in recent months, that the bookings we have are mostly for our spa hotels. Romanians are discovering the hotels that have healing procedures and mineral water," Ivaylo Marinov, head of the Office for Trade and Economic Affairs, told BTA.
He pointed out that for yet another year, Romanians make up the largest percentage of foreign tourists in Bulgaria. "Earlier today we talked to hoteliers that there is an increase of over 10%. Romanian tourists have made over 1 million overnight stays in Bulgaria. The pre-pandemic levels are back again," Marinov underscored.
"The interest of Romanians is growing more and more, every year. Since last year, we have seen an increase of 10%," Teodora Dicheva, marketing representative of the Pamporovo mountain resort, told BTA.
The Ravadinovo Castle, also known as "In Love with the Wind", is also enjoying growing interest from Romanian tourists, its general manager Yanko Krastev told BTA.
