The conditions for mountain hikes are poor, the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC) told BTA on Friday morning. The weather is cloudy, foggy in places, with a strong to gale-force wind.
Most places have a minimum snow cover of between 5 and 10 cm.
Lift facilities at most resorts are not working due to strong winds.
The MRS responded to a call from a tourist who urgently needed insulin. The tourist was at the shelter on Cherni Vrah Mountain and had very high blood sugar. The rescue team handed him over to Emergency Medical Services.
The National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology has issued a yellow warning for strong winds in most parts of the country for Friday. There were also yellow and orange warnings for strong winds on Thursday.
