Acting chairman of the Bulgarian Socialist Party (BSP) Atanas Zafirov told the national radio Sunday that by the end of August, more than twenty leftist formations will sign a coalition agreement to run together in the upcoming parliamentary elections.
He explained that the united left is already at a very advanced stage of signing a coalition agreement, as the final details of the coalition's composition are being made. "So far there are twenty political entities, talks are underway with several more parties from the left and centre-left political space," Zafirov said.
He hopes that after the meeting of the Executive Bureau, planned for August 27, the potential partners will be able to sign the agreement itself. “The timing is right according to the schedule for the upcoming parliamentary elections," the BSP leader commented.
Asked whether he expects President Radev to approve the new caretaker cabinet line-up that Dimitar Glavchev is to propose on August 26, Zafirov said, "I think the key is whether Kalin Stoyanov will remain Interior Minister or not... Everything is in the hands of Mr. Glavchev. At the moment, whether there will be a cabinet depends entirely on him."
