An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.5 on the Richter scale shook Turkiye's Mediterranean region of Antalya at 16:50 local time (15:50 Bulgarian time), prompting serious concerns and fear among residents on Friday.

The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that the earthquake's epicentre was located in the Gulf of Antalya at a depth of 7 km.

According to Turkish media reports, many frightened people rushed outside as the earthquake's impact was felt across the region. The resort town of Alanya, approximately 120 km from Antalya, experienced strong tremors, which were also noticeable in other nearby areas.

No injuries or damage have been reported.
