On Saturday, Vice President Iliana Iotova will participate in a national commemorative gathering in the Petrova Niva locality dedicated to the 121st anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhensky Uprising, the Prsesident's press secretariat reported.

At 8 pm, Iotova will attend a prayer service at the St Petka Church, followed by a commemorative celebration to mark the anniversary where she will give a speech. Iotova will also lay a wreath at the memorial to those who died in the Uprising.

The programme to mark the 121st anniversary of the Ilinden-Preobrazhenie Uprising in the Petrova Niva locality will begin at 1 pm with the exhibition "Notable Anniversaries in the Thracian Movement", which will be opened in the museum exposition on site. Also to be exhibited are old weapons used in the Uprising. The exhibition is organised by the Unity National Union and the Tradition Society.

The Petrova Niva locality is 20 kilometres from the town of Malko Tarnovo, Southeastern Bulgaria. It was there that on June 11-13, 1903, delegates of the Congress of the Internal Revolutionary Organization of the Bulgarians from Thrace decided to support the Ilinden Uprising that had broken out earlier in Macedonia against Ottoman rule.
