Тhe You Are Not Alone campaign against gambling and drug addiction opens Friday with a 4-hour concert on an open stage in the Old Town in Nessebar, including popular Bulgarian singers.

The campaign has been organized in Bulgaria for 23 years with the purpose to raise awareness of the risks of drug and gambling addiction and the possibilities of dealing with it.

According to data from the National Revenue Agency (NRA) and the Customs Agency, more than 50% of the active population in Bulgaria gambles. A register of people with gambling addiction that is kept by the NRA, has over 39,000 people in it, said Anna Mitova, head of the NRA Communications Department.

In addition to the concert, there was a demonstration with a detection dog, 4-year-old Garry, to familiarize young people with how sniffer dogs are trained and show them how a dog reacts when it sniffs a narcotic substance.

A total of 21 detection dogs help the customs officials in Bulgaria in the fight against drug trafficking, said the Customs Agency.

The campaign aims to spread the message to say no to gambling and drug addiction as widely as possible among young people. For this reason, before the concert, students from the upper high school classes will participate in a presentation, which will cover the topics of drug and gambling addiction.

Organizers of the event are the Customs Agency and the National Revenue Agency, together with the assistance of Nessebar Municipality. BTA is a media partner of the campaign.
