site.btaNational Railway Company Reports Train Service Suspension Due to Derailment

The last five empty carriages of a private freight train derailed between Mirkovo and Dolno Kamartsi at 14:55, the National Railway Infrastructure Company (NRIC) said on Thursday.

The composition consists of 20 carriages, and there are no injuries. Train operations have been suspended.

Immediate dispatch of equipment and teams to lift the wagons and commence restoration activities was ordered. The causes are being investigated.

All express trains on the railway line running just south of the Balkan Mountain range will now pass through Plovdiv, including the night services between Sofia and Varna, and Sofia and Burgas. 

Passenger trains on the routes from Sofia to Karlovo and from Poduyane to Koprivshtitsa will be substituted with bus shuttle services between Mirkovo and Dolno Kamartsi, NRIC said.
