An earthquake with a magnitude of 4.4 on the Richter scale was recorded on Wednesday afternoon in the Vrancea seismic region of Eastern Romania, the Agerpres news agency said on Thursday, citing Romania's National Institute for Research and Development for Earth Physics (INCDFP).

The initial magnitude of the earthquake was recorded at 4.1 but later revised to 4.4 by INCDFP, Agerpres said.

INCDFP said initially that the depth of the earthquake was 140 km, but it was later revised to 138.8 km.

The earthquake was recorded at 3:09 pm local (and Bulgarian) time.
