Bulgaria’s caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and the Strategic and International Affairs Adviser to NATO's Supreme Allied Commander, Stephen Covington, have agreed that NATO is at an important stage where focus is shifting from crisis management to collective security. During their meeting at the Council of Ministers, Glavchev noted that Bulgaria has been a reliable ally for 20 years now and will continue to be so, the Government Information Service said on Wednesday.

The sides also discussed the upcoming NATO Summit in Washington, D.C. The Prime Minister noted that the forum is of great importance in the context of the reinforcement of NATO’s Eastern flank and the Black Sea region in connection with the war in Ukraine. Glavchev reaffirmed Bulgaria's support for Kyiv, adding that it will continue for as long as it is necessary.

Covington is paying an official visit to Bulgaria from June 24 to 26 at the invitation of Bulgaria's Chief of Defence, Admiral Emil Eftimov.
