The Interior Ministry's structures have received 263 alerts thus far for election violations and possible vote buying, caretaker Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov told reporters here on Wednesday. A total of 83 pretrial proceedings have been launched. As a whole, the situation ahead of the June 9 elections is under control, he commented.

"For the moment, everything is going smoothly because this year we took all the necessary measures much earlier, namely the arrival of the ballot papers in the respective places under guard," added Stoyanov.

He noted that the Ministry of Interior has identified risk points where there will be increased security during the elections.

Stoyanov visited the Kapitan Andreevo border crossing together with caretaker Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev and caretaker Regional Development and Public Works Minister Violeta Koritarova. The visit is part of the efforts undertaken by the caretaker government to comprehensively modernise and optimise the border control checkpoints.
