Speaking to reporters in the village of Gara Elin Pelin near Sofia on Friday, Interior Ministry Secretary General Dimitar Kangaldzhiev said that the fire in the fireworks depot near Elin Pelin is now smoldering.

He added that firebreaks will be made as a preemptive measure.

An alert for the fire at the depot between the town of Elin Pelin and the village of Gara Elin Pelin was issued on Thursday.
