Commenting on the decision of the Constitutional Court declaring unconstitutional some of the changes in the Constitution, Continue the Change (CC) co-chairman Kiril Petkov wrote on Facebook, “Today, after the Constitutional Court's decision, it became clear that the "captured state" system wants the lack of justice to remain."

In his post, Petkov is adamant that the prosecution service and the judiciary in Bulgaria do not work for the people and expresses his conviction that the current system is set up so that there are people in the whole structure who do not work for justice, but to maintain the "captured state".  Petkov gives the example of the election of the acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov, when in his words the entire Supreme Judicial Council voted as one.

The CC co-chair points out that three judges of the GERB/Rosen Plevneliev quota voted "against" the judicial reform: Margarita Karagyozova Finkova (2015), Filip Dimitrov (2015) and Krasimir Vlahov (2018), in addition to four from the existing system: Pavlina Panova (2018), Tanya Raykovska (2015), Nadezhda Zhelepova (2018) and Sonya Yankulova (2021), and two from Rumen Radev’s quota: Yanaki Stoilov (2021) and Atanas Semov (2018).

Petkov points out that Judge Borislav Belazelkov has supported the judicial reform and has been on the side of justice, but unfortunately his vote was not enough.

“The only thing left is that the Prosecutor General can be investigated. The road to fixing our country is long. It will be a marathon, it will be a relay race - but I believe that the direction is right and sooner or later we will get there where there is justice and people are free,” the CC co-chairman wrote.
