The now independent MPs and four of the municipal councillors who were expelled from Vazrazhdane have decided to start work on a new political organisation, MP Nikolay Drenchev told journalists at the National Assembly. According to him, new elections are expected, and they will not significantly change the configuration of Parliament. Bulgaria needs a new political organisation, a new alternative, he said.
“What we see is the need for a new patriotic formation, which, however, has a human face,” he added, specifying that they will most likely take part in the first elections that are coming, but they are not essential and important for them. The focus is to create the organisation, to structure it, to bring people together, he said.
At the moment the participants in the project are four independent municipal councillors - Krasimir Galabov, Ventsy Stoychev, Vasil Draganov and Sevdelina Petrova, as well as three independent MPs - Ivo Ruschev, Alexander Arangelov and Nikolay Drenchev.
In February, after the election of the chairman of the Sofia Municipal Council, four councillors were expelled from Vazrazhdane. After that, the parliamentary group of Vazrazhdane also expelled three deputies because the Sofia organization of the party demanded political accountability from the MPs who nominated these representatives in the list for municipal councillors in Sofia.
