President Rumen Radev wrote a Facebook message on the occasion of Vine Gower's Day, Triphon Zarezan [Triphon the Pruner] and Valentine's Day. "Saint Tryphon is the strong connection with the millennial tradition of our ancestors, with the land, fertility and the magic of wine. But let's not forget that it is love that gives meaning everything," Radev wrote.

"Whichever of the two holidays you have chosen to celebrate today, and why not both, I wish you good mood and pleasant emotions", added Radev.

According to the Bulgarian custom, on the day of the holiday, farmers go out into the field and drop a few sticks, water the roots of the vine with wine and bless them. The culmination of the celebration is the election of a "King of the Vines", usually a successful farmer who is considered lucky so that during his "reign" abundant fruit will bloom.
