The first investigation against the Prosecutor General ended without evidence of a crime. Daniela Taleva, the appointed investigator of the Prosecutor General and his deputies, has decided not to open pre-trial proceedings on the first report she started working on, she told BTA.

The complaint in question is against the current acting Prosecutor General Borislav Sarafov in connection with property transactions in 2020, 2021 and 2022. Taleva explained that the allegations made in the media publications attached to the signal are not confirmed by the materials collected during the probe.

Taleva pointed out that during the investigation explanations were taken from Borislav Sarafov and from all the persons mentioned in the articles. Documents and deeds were also requested. The whistleblower has been notified and can appeal against the refusal, which was issued on January 25. The Sofia City Court told BTA that so far, they have no information that an appeal has been filed.

Daniela Taleva said that her work on all the alerts submitted to the investigation mechanism of the prosecutor general and his deputies was continuing.

Judge Taleva of the Sofia City Court is the first magistrate selected at random to investigate the Prosecutor General and his deputies. The lot was drawn on July 7 among 22 judges who were approved according to a procedure adopted by the amendments to the Criminal Procedure Code and the Judicial System Act. Taleva took office on December 7.
