Customs officers at the Kapital Andreevo checkpoint on the Bulgarian-Turkish border found over 3 kg of cocaine in the jacket of a truck driver during a check of an outbound truck, said the Customs Agency Tuesday.

The truck had Turkish plates and the driver was a Turkish national. The vehicle was on its way from Switzerland to Turkiye and on to Afghanistan via Bulgaria. It was picked for a thorough check at the border.

The exact quantity of cocaine they found in the lining of the driver's jacket was 3.240 kg and its estimated value was just over BGN 1 million.

Pre-trial proceedings have been started by prosecutors in the southeastern town of Haskovo.
